Sugar Industry Experts Hold Congress in Havana
HAVANA, Cuba, Sept 5 (ACN) The current situation and prospects
of the Sugar industry is the main point on the agenda of the
50th Congress of the Cuban Association of Sugar Experts (ATAC),
which opens sessions Wednesday in Havana.

AThe event is being attended by 200 Cuban specialists and
entrepreneurs, plus more than 40 experts from Germany,
Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Costa Rica, El Salvador,
Brazil, Uruguay, India and Venezuela, according to the
event’s organizing committee.
ATAC president Eduardo Lamadrid said 17 foreign companies
will be participating at a scientific and commercial exhibit
to be displayed during the forum, at Havana’s Conventions
Center.
Also attending are representatives of international
organizations and foreign experts, who will give
presentations on their experiences on the development of the
sugar industry.
According to Lamadrid, the event will offer an opportunity
to exchange views and strengthen relations among sugar
industry professionals in order to boost programs aimed at
the development of the economic sector.
Participants at the scientific forum will gather in working
commissions to debate issues, such as sugar cane production,
sugar and derivatives, energy and the environment, training
of sugar workers, among others.
The Cuban Association of Sugar Experts, created in 1927,
will also submit a report to the gathering about its
performance after its latest Congress.
