Dilma Rousseff, President of the Federative Republic of
Brazil, was welcomed on Monday by Cuban Foreign Minister
Bruno Rodriguez, upon her arrival in this capital.

The head of
state arrived this afternoon at the Jose Marti International
Airport on an official visit, with the purpose of
strengthening the bonds existing between the two nations.
Rousseff?s agenda will include talks with Army General Raul
Castro, President of the councils of State and Ministers,
and a tribute to National Hero Jose Marti.
Born on December 14, 1947, in Belo Horizonte, capital of the
State of Minas Gerais, Dilma Rousseff is the first woman
assuming the presidency in the history of her country, after
being elected on October 31, 2010, with almost 56 million
votes.
Brazil is Cuba?s second trading partner in the region of
Latin America and the Caribbean. Standing out in this field
is Brazil?s financing for the works of the Port of Mariel, a
joint bilateral project, in addition to the program to
produce soy and corn with Brazilian technology and advice.
A total of 626 students from that country have graduated in
Cuba since 1961, as part of educational cooperation, and at
present there are 660 studying on the Caribbean island.
