The Communist Party official conveyed his dismay and sorrow for the dramatic event and asked the relatives to trust the medical specialists, who are restlessly working since the accident occurred, with the only objective of assisting and achieving the recovery of the patients.

While in the hospital, Exposito spoke with some of the patients, who are receiving specialized treatment at the burns unit, where doctors are striving for the life of each patient, even when 14 of them are facing imminent danger to their lives, said doctor Olga Rodriguez, head of the burns room at the Juan Bruno Zayas Clinica-Surgical Hospital.

“We have received spontaneous support by all the medical personnel in the hospital, even specialized nurses, who were on holidays after having concluded their mission in Venezuela; they came to the hospital and thanks to all of them we are facing this dramatic situation,” the doctor said.

Doctor Rodriguez underscored the hard work underway to save the life of each patient as doctors and nurses work in permanent shifts, in what she called a strong battle against death to save each life based on professionalism and the deepest humane feelings.
