Lazo Meets with New Dominican President
HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 17 (ACN)
Cuban Vice-president Esteban Lazo met with Dominican
Republic’s newly elected president Danilo Medina, in the
capital Santo Domingo.
According to PL news Agency, Lazo and Medina ratified
their governments’ interest in further strengthening
bilateral relations, which are considered historic and
common to both country’s cultures.
The meeting was preceded by a brief exchange with outgoing
President Leonel Fernandez, to whom Vice-president Lazo
expressed appreciation for the levels reached by relations
between Santo Domingo and Havana during his term of office.
Lazo also held talks with Haiti’s Michel Martelly on Cuba’s
cooperation with his country in the fields of public health
and education.
The top government Cuban official also met with the foreign
ministers of Bahamas, Theodore Brent and, and of Guatemala,
Harold Caballeros.
During a reception offered by President Medina to the guests
from 75 countries and international organizations, Lazo
wished the new president success in term of office.
