The meeting, held at the Jose Marti Memorial of Havana’s Revolution Square, is part of the international campaign in support of the Bolivarian project, on the occasion of the presidential elections to be held in Venezuela on October 7.

Sergio Guerra, president of the Latin American and Caribbean Association of Historians, highlighted the Latin American essence of the process of emancipation initiated in that country over 200 years ago.

Venezuelan ambassador to Havana, Edgardo Ramirez, and Jose Ramon Balaguer, head of the Department of International Relations of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party (PCC), unveiled a printed image of Bolivar’s face.

The Venezuelan diplomat donated to the Marti Memorial the compilation of 133 issues of the Correo del Orinoco pro-independence newspaper, founded by Bolivar, which circulated between 1818 and 1822.

Officials from several Cuban organizations and institutions and of the Central Committee of the PCC attended the solidarity meeting with members of the diplomatic legation and representatives of institutions of that country of the Southern Cone.
