Cuba Ratifies Support for Venezuela’s Bolivarian Project
HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 16 (acn) Cuba
ratified on Wednesday its solidarity with the revolution led
by President Hugo Chavez, during a meeting held in this
capital under the slogan The Peoples of the World United for
Venezuela.
The
meeting,
held at
the Jose
Marti
Memorial
of
Havana’s
Revolution
Square,
is part
of the
international
campaign
in
support
of the
Bolivarian
project,
on the
occasion
of the
presidential
elections
to be
held in
Venezuela
on
October
7.
Sergio
Guerra,
president
of the
Latin
American
and
Caribbean
Association
of
Historians,
highlighted
the
Latin
American
essence
of the
process
of
emancipation
initiated
in that
country
over 200
years
ago.
Venezuelan
ambassador
to
Havana,
Edgardo
Ramirez,
and Jose
Ramon
Balaguer,
head of
the
Department
of
International
Relations
of the
Central
Committee
of the
Cuban
Communist
Party (PCC),
unveiled
a
printed
image of
Bolivar’s
face.
The
Venezuelan
diplomat
donated
to the
Marti
Memorial
the
compilation
of 133
issues
of the
Correo
del
Orinoco
pro-independence
newspaper,
founded
by
Bolivar,
which
circulated
between
1818 and
1822.
Officials
from
several
Cuban
organizations
and
institutions
and of
the
Central
Committee
of the
PCC
attended
the
solidarity
meeting
with
members
of the
diplomatic
legation
and
representatives
of
institutions
of that
country
of the
Southern
Cone.
