Latest Advances of Cuba’s Heberprot-P to be Presented at
International Meeting
HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 16 (acn) The
results obtained with the use of Heberprot-P, a new Cuban
biotechnological product to treat diabetic foot ulcers, will
be shown during a forum scheduled for December 12-14 in
Havana.

Congress,
told ACN
that
participants
will
also
tackle
clinical
trials,
the
national
extension
of the
medicament,
experiences
in the
attention
and
comprehensive
treatment
of
diabetic
feet,
and the
use of
other
therapies.
Based on
the
recombinant
human
growth
factor,
it makes
it
possible
to heal
lesions
and
reduce
the
number
of
amputations
in most
cases,
he
pointed
out.
Developed
by
specialists
and
scientists
of the
Center
for
Genetic
Engineering
and
Biotechnology
(CIGB),
together
with the
Angiology
and
Vascular
Surgery
Institute,
Heberprot-P
is part
of the
basic
medicaments
for
Cuban
patients
in the
primary
and
secondary
health
services.
Ernesto
Lopez,
business
director
with the
CIGB,
said
that
this
medicine
has
patents
in over
40
countries
and has
obtained
almost
20
health
registrations
granted
by
health
ministries
to be
able to
use it,
adding
that
over
70,000
patients
from
various
nations
have
been
benefited
by
Heberprot-P.
