“Our
association joins the
strong rejection by our
government of such a
sensitive and slanderous
accusation,” reads a
declaration issued by
the organization, which
was posted on the
Internet, according to
JR newspaper.
Last
July 31, the US State
Department published its
unilateral and arbitrary
list of states sponsors
of terrorism, which
included Cuba, under
allegations that the
Cuban banking system has
not adopted enough
measures to face money
laundry and transactions
linked to that crime.
“It
is well known that the
United States is the
biggest money laundry
center in the world,
while the lack of
regulations by its
financial system
triggered the current
economic crisis,” the
declaration points out.
The
Cubans residing in
Brazil said that the
inclusion of Cuba on
that list is aimed at
justifying the
over-fifty-year US
economic blockade of the
island and chasing
financial transactions
to strangle Cuban
economy.
“Who
has given Washington the
right to act as world
judge on terrorism,
while it is the United
States that harbors,
protects and encourages
international
terrorists, such as Luis
Posada Carriles and many
others, who has
inflicted huge human and
material damage to the
Cuban people? Reads the
