Cuban Soprano to Perform in Madrid
HAVANA, Cuba, July 30 (acn) Cuban acclaimed soprano Johana
Simon will sing the leading role of Verdi´s La Traviata in
six performaces at the Nuevo Alcalá Theater in Madrid,
Spain.
The Cuban artist is a guest star
of the Estudio Lírico company, and will perform along tenor
Moses Molin and baritone Carlos Andrade, under the direction of
Cuban Professor Elena Herrera, and the Mediterranean
Philharmonic Orchestra.
The role of Violetta Valery in La Traviata has been one of the
most successful roles in Johana Simon´s career who also has
performed in other masterpieces like Rigoletto, Lucia di
Lammermoor, La Bohème and the Elixir of love.
Johana Simon was awarded in 2010 in the "Grandi Voci" singing
contest in Salzburg, Austria. She has also performed as guest
artist of the Cuban Opera and is a regular soloist at the
National Center of Concert Music in Havana.
