Meeting on African, Brazilian and Caribbean Cinema Ends in
the Dominican Republic
HAVANA, Cuba, July 17 (ACN) The
2nd meeting of Filmmakers from Africa, Brazil, the Caribbean
and its Diasporas (Cinema ABCD), will close its doors on
Wednesday in Santo Domingo, capital of the Dominican
Republic, centered on the analysis of the situation of the
film industry in the regions represented.
On Tuesday, at the Democracy and Development Global
Foundation, representatives of 26 countries
discussed the complexities related to this artistic
expression, and tackled the obstacles faced by
national productions.
For Cuban filmmaker Rigoberto Lopez, president of
the organizing committee, said that the meeting
continues the exchange of experiences initiated in
its first edition, held in Cuba in 2011, the Prensa
Latina news agency reported.
The filmmaker also presides over the Caribbean
Cinema Traveling Exhibition, which has its head
office in Havana and sponsors the meeting in Santo
Domingo.
The last day of the meeting will include debates on
spaces for cooperation between participating
nations, in order to develop the so-called seventh
art.
Likewise, possibilities offered to cinema by the
Internet will be analyzed.
