Sao Paulo Forum: Integration and social vs. Neo-liberalism
HAVANA, Cuba, Jul 7 (acn)
Socialism, social justice, the respect of the environment
and the
right of nations to choose their own model of society make
up the only alternative project
against neo-liberalism, said Ramon Balaguer, member of
Cuba’s Communist Party Central
Committee at the final session of the Sao Paulo Forum, held
in Venezuela.
Balaguer called for the
strengthening of Latin American integration and the defense
of the Bolivarian Revolution in the South American country.
He said that the unity of leftist forces and their capacity
to understand the need to increase solidarity among
progressive forces constitute the only option to advance
before today’s challenges and the huge imperial power.
The Cuban party official alerted that imperialism continues
to increasingly talk about the disappearance of the
Bolivarian Revolution and with it, the elimination of all
the achievements of leftist Latin American and Caribbean
forces.
Venezuela, under the leadership of President Hugo Chavez, is
currently a leader of the patriotic, revolutionary and
internationalist struggle, with huge capacity for changes
and integration against imperialism and in favor of
socialism, Balaguer pointed out.
The 18th Sao Paulo Forum held sessions during three days in
Caracas Venezuela, with the attendance of over 600 delegates
and about one hundred political parties and organizations
from all continents. The leftist organizations’ forum worked
under the slogan The Nations of the World United against
Neo-liberalism and in favor of Peace.
