Tourism Finds Solid Support in Academic Studies
HAVANA, Cuba, July 4 (ACN)
Tourist academic studies are crucial for the improvement and
development of this economic sector, said the dean of the
Tourism Faculty at the University of Havana, Lourdes
Cisneros.
In statements to
Granma daily newspaper, Cisneros said that the
implementation of strategies to foster an integral culture
relevant to the
tourist service will largely depend on the recognition of
how significant
studies and research in the tourist field may result.
“We are talking about a specialty allowing students to be
better trained,
by learning foreign languages and acquiring general culture,
ethic and
moral formation, which are very important factors when
offering any
tourist service,” said the expert.
The academic training gains significance as tourism is
becoming one of the
country’s major economic sectors, thanks to its development
and growing
quality.
The tourist specialty is offered as a regular day course and
also as a
part time option for those working both in the state or
private sectors,
the dean explained, and noted that workers in the service
and tourist
areas may also get master’s degrees in different specialties
from which
over 300 students have already graduated.
