Habana del Centro, a New Documentary on Havana
Santiago HAVANA, Cuba, Jul 4 (acn) Filmmaker Lourdes Prieto
released her latest documentary Habana del Centro, ensueño
de sombras (Habana del Centro, A dream of shadows) which is
an evocation to the history and reality of the Cuban capital
city.
The 56-minute audiovisual
material dwells on Havana architecture,
specifically in the municipality of Centro Habana, for a period
covering
more than four centuries of colonial rule, the years of the
neo-colonial
republic (1902-1958) and the present.
Prieto, screenwriter and director, said in the premiere that the
documentary was not a work of architecture or history, but of a
material
that reflects the artistic impressions of the place of her
birth.
The documentary features the testimony of Eusebio Leal Spengler,
Historian
of the City, and the story by Cuban actor Luis Alberto Garcia.
Prieto has done other works such as Conversando con Ruth
(Conversation
with Ruth), about the life and work of Pablo de la Torriente
Brau, The
Magic Labyrinth, dedicated to the Cuban writer and journalist
Jaime
Sarusky, and Rumor of time on the avant-garde painter Julio
Girona, among
others.
