New Cuban Feature Film on the MakingCAMAGUEY, Cuba, May 15 (acn) A family conflict is the plot of ¨La Hoja de la Caleta, ¨fiction feature film which shooting takes place in Santa Cruz del Sur municipality, in Camagüey.

The main theme of the drama refers to the contradictions arising between the fisherman Tomas and his son Adalberto, known as Berto, who is 10 years old, after the boy's mother abandons them and leaves the country.

Tensions are exacerbated when the mother returns intending to take the child abroad.
Pavel Barrios, screenwriter, told ACN that the film is a plea against the wrong education and protection of children, with emphasis on the case of males, often forced by macho patterns to assume adults behavior.

Barrios, who lives in Camagüey and is a graduate in Art History, added that the atmosphere of fishing families is the leading social context of the film.

The role of the leading character, Berto, is assumed by Carlos Fernandez, a nine-years-old student of José Martí elementary school and member of Abracadabra artistic group, also in Santa Cruz del Sur.

Other actors enrolled are Yoandri Aballe, in the role of Tomas, and Manuel Porto and Irela Bravo, who perform a driver and a widow, respectively.

La Hoja de la Caleta is co-directed by Jorge Campanería and Mirtha Gonzalez: the latter already directed television audiovisual materials such as ¨Salir de Noche¨ and ¨Cuando el agua regresa a la tierra.¨

The filming process will end in the first week of June, as planned, and the premiere of the film will be next summer, sponsored by the Cuban Radio and Television Institute (ICRT by its Spanish acronym) Soap Operas Producing House.
