The state of the
island’s medical assistance in the South American country
and possibilities to strengthen cooperation in this field
were assessed by Cuban ambassador Julio Solis and Surinamese
Health Minister Michel Blokland, during a meeting in
Paramaribo on Thursday.
Likewise, they
assessed the efforts made by their States so a group of
Cuban specialists begins to perform eye surgeries in that
capital, the
www.cubaminrex.cu Web site reported on Friday.
In a similar exchange, Sports and Youth Minister Ismanto
Adna thanked Solis for the work carried out by Cuban
trainers, who encourage massive practice of sports in new
generations in several Surinamese communities.
Adna spoke about the possibility of concreting other
cooperation agreements in several sport modalities and
disciplines.
He also updated the diplomat about the first steps of the
project of the Regional Sports Institute, resulting from the
agreements reached at the 4th Cuba-CARICOM Summit held in
December in Trinidad and Tobago.
