The Andalusian lawmaker listened with attention to Mirta Rodriguez during talks at the capital Seville, and he expressed his interest in learning about the situation of the Cuban Five, as Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labañino, Fernando Gonzalez, Antonio Guerrero and Rene Gonzalez are internationally known.

Rodriguez is visiting Seville with a delegation made up of Cuban economist Alberto Betancourt, the president of the Hermanos Saiz Artists’ Association Luis Morlote and Foreign Ministry official Alberto Gonzalez.

Accompanied by the general consul in Seville, Ulises Arranz, the delegation met with members of the United Left party at the local government and parliament, and they insisted in the need to fight for the end of the US economic, commercial and financial blockade of Cuba.

The visitors also met for over three hours with Cubans residing in Andalusia and local citizens. The encounter allowed for the exchange of views on the updating of the Cuban economic model and the role of Cuban youths in the island’s social and cultural life.
