Chavez made his statements after officially registering his candidacy with
the National Electoral Council on Monday, amidst a crowd that accompanied
him from the Miraflores Presidential Palace.

With the support of Venezuela’s United Socialist Party (PSUV) and another
12 organizations, the head of state handed over the program that he
expects to implement after his reelection in the upcoming vote.

The social and economic program mainly focuses on actions to meet the
needs of the population and to boost the national economy as well as
maintain growing social investment in the country, according to Telesur TV
channel.

Hugo Chavez also thanked his people for their prayers in favor of his
health recovery during the past year and he sent a message of gratitude to
Cuban Revolution leader Fidel Castro. He said, that Sunday 10 marked one
year since the first surgery he underwent in Havana, and sent Fidel, Raul
and the Cuban people his best wishes and many thanks,” Chavez said.
