Parliamentarians of Ecuador Declare their Solidarity with
Cuba
HAVANA, Cuba, June 7 (ACN)—The
Ecuador-Cuba Friendship Parliamentary Group handed over on
Thursday to a delegation from the Caribbean island copies of
the agreements reached in Quito, during the plenary session
of that legislative organ, which declared itself to be in
favor of
the just cause of The Five.
In a meeting that was attended
by Aleida Guevara, daughter of Heroic Guerilla Ernesto Che
Guevara, the solidarity group declared itself to be against
the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by
Washington on the Caribbean island for over half a century
now.
The Prensa Latina news agency reported that the legislator
proposed that these resolutions should be sent to regional
and international organizations, the US ambassador to Quito,
and President Barack Obama, in order to start processing the
petitions.
Also attending the ceremony were, among others, Cuba’s
ambassador to Ecuador, Jorge Rodriguez; Elio Gamez,
vice-president of the Cuban Institute for Friendship with
the Peoples; and Maria Eugenia Guerrero, sister of Antonio
Guerrero, one of the five Cuban antiterrorists unfairly
incarcerated in the northern country.
