Benicio
del Toro Criticizes U.S. Policy Towards Cuba
HAVANA, Cuba, May 24 (acn) Famous actor
and filmmaker Benicio del Toro criticized in Cannes on
Thursday Washington’s policy towards Cuba, which prevents US
citizens to travel freely to the Caribbean nation.

Del Toro, who was born in
Puerto Rico and became a naturalized Spaniard, went to that
city of the Cote d’Azur to attend the presentation of the
film "Seven Days in Havana," a collection of the same number
of shorts, one of which he directed, the Prensa Latina Web
site reported.Del
Toro told the press that the US ban on traveling to Cuba is
a kind of censorship, and that in order to travel to the
Caribbean island you have to ask for a special permission
from the U.S. government, pay a large amount of money, and
then wait for several months to obtain the approval.
That is not the case with
any other Caribbean country said the actor, who won an Oscar
for his role in the film "Traffic," and also the award in
the Best Actor category in Cannes 2008 for his role in "Che,
