On behalf of Gerardo Hernandez, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando Gonzalez, Ramon Labañino and of his  own, Rene thanked delegates for the title of honorary members of the Cuban Association of  Agricultural and Forest Technicians (ACTAF) given to them during the opening of the meeting.

In the text, he said it’s an honor for The Five and a privilege, which, although undeserved,  they accepted as a demonstration of their generosity, since ACTAF members are the heroes of  the daily battle to find alternatives to aggressive models of exploiting the land, models that  are anti-ecological and economically inefficient.

We can only say, adds Rene, that we just did our duty, and if that duty implied the defense of  life, of our society and the alternative you represent, then it was worth doing it as well as  the sacrifices it has brought to us. And if that’s the reason why we’re honored with this  title, then we can do nothing but thanking you and wishing you success, and reiterate our adherence and our commitment, concludes the letter.
