Cuban Agriculture Aimed at Increasing Vegetables During Summer
Months
ARTEMISA, Cuba, May 9 (acn) The province of Artemisa with over
270 thousand hectares of arable land and the unconditional
commitment of working hard can guarantee vegetables for its
population and support the demand of the tourism sector during
the summer months.

During a tour of the National
Group of Urban and Suburban Agriculture the
island´s provinces were qualified as good with over 99
points in the
productive modality.
In an interview to AIN News Agency, Adolfo Rodriguez Nodals
head of the
program recognized the advances in recent months and urged
to
progressively strengthen the cultivation and complete four
hectares of
eggplants, small and regular peppers in each municipality.
Nodals also urged not to neglect biological control of the
protected and
semi protected areas beginning from the main agro ecological
mechanisms
and recommended planting okra and string beans to also
secure the winter
stage.
In other aspects, he also proposed guaranteeing animal feed
in the farms,
which are necessary year-round and intensify the use of
oxen, in addition
to complying with the delivery of medicinal plants in the
territory.

The National Group congratulated the municipality of San
Antonio de los
Baños for its results and advances in the different
agricultural sub
programs close to the neighborhoods.
Ulises Guilarte de Nacimiento, First Secretary of the
Communist Party in
the province said that food production is the country´s
second sector that
generates most costs to the Cuban State forcing everyone to
work harder in
reducing spendings and satisfy the demands of the
population.
