Cuba Hosts Int’l Congress of Pharmaceutical Sciences
HAVANA, Cuba, May 9 (acn) The use
of natural and traditional medicine, and the regulations and
control of medicines and biotechnological products, are some of
the main topics of the scientific program of the International
Congress of Pharmaceutical Sciences ‘Cubafarmacia 2012’ that was
inaugurated in Havana on Wednesday.

The event,
organized by the Cuban Society of Pharmaceutical Sciences
(SCCF), is taking place at the National Hotel of the Cuban
capital under
the slogan ‘Challenges of the Professional Chemists for
Innovation and
Sustainable Development’.
Pharmacoepidemiology and access to essential medicines, with
emphasis on
children and pregnant women, are other topics to be
discussed in the event
that runs through Friday, May 11, and which includes
lectures, workshops,
and debates.
World renowned experts will speak about these and other
issues during the
meeting that advocates the right to health assistance in
Latin America and
the Caribbean and the fulfillment of the Millennium
Development Goals.
The president of the SCCF and of the event’s organizing
committee, MSc
Tania Manzano, announced that taking place along with the
Congress will be
the General Assembly of the Pan American Federation of
Pharmacy, an
organization founded in Havana on December 8, 1948.
