The province is the first to achieve a national program in restoring
railways which will generate earnings to the territory for some 7 200 tons
of products.

This figure contrasts with the 3 600 in the first semester of 2011,
reported Alexander Casanova Cerreda Deputy Director of Cargo of the State
Traffic Center.

Ciego de Avila has 703 kilometers of railway, the majority needing some
kind of restoration in search for more efficiency in passenger and cargo
transportation.

Esteban Echemendia Payan, Provincial Director of the Moron Railway and
Bridges Business Center said that workers of the entity and the Youth
Labor Army finished 23 kilometers of railways between the towns of
Jatibonico and Ciego de Avila.

They also have 95 percent of the stretch between Ciego de Avila and the El
