Pakistani Authorities Thank Cuba for Help
HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 27 (acn)
Faisal Mushtaq, Executive Director of the System of Root
Schools in Pakistan, thanked Cuba on Friday for helping his
country after the powerful earthquake it was
the victim of in 2005.
These feelings of gratitude
were expressed during a ceremony to hand over certificates
to a group of students with outstanding academic
performance, held in Islamabad, attended by Cuba’s
ambassador to Pakistan, Jesus Zenen Buergo.
Mushtaq recalled the generous assistance given to his
country by the Cuban people, which sent a medical brigade to
help the victims, the www.cubaminrex.cu Web site reported.
Likewise, he mentioned the program of scholarships given by
Cuba to Pakistan, as a result of which almost 1,000
Pakistani youngsters are currently studying Medicine in the
Caribbean nation.
Also attending the ceremony were Dr. Javaid Laghari,
President of the Commission for Higher Education of
Pakistan; governmental authorities, senators and members of
that country’s National Assembly and educational system.
