HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 25 (acn)
Contemporary Ecuadorian poets of different tendencies will
share
their work with the Cuban public during the Festival of
Ecuadorian Letters in Havana, which
began on Wednesday and will end on April 28.
In addition to
promoting artistic work, the Festival is aimed at
encouraging exchanges with Cuban writers and at leaving an
imprint on the Caribbean island, according to information
provided on Wednesday during a press conference.
With this purpose, participants in the various activities
will receive, free of charge, a compilation of verses of the
six visiting authors, printed by the Publishing Fund of the
Ecuadorian Ministry of Culture, under the title "De la
ligereza o velocidad que también es perfume".
The program includes other artistic expressions, like the
Extraterritorios dance show, the performance of Javier
Cevallos with a monologue dedicated to Eloy Alfaro –leader
of the Ecuadorian liberal revolution (1895-1924), and the
presentation of musicians Edgar Palacios and Cecilia Tapia.
A selection of Ecuadorian films, which includes titles like
A tus espaldas, Abuelos, and Esas no son penas, will be
shown at the Infanta Multiscreen Movie Complex.
Lectures on important Ecuadorian authors, like Jorge Carrera
Andrade –National Poet-, Pablo Palacios and Humberto
Salvador, will take place in the mornings, at the Dulce
Maria Loynaz Cultural Center.
