Meeting of Tripartite Agreement in Port-au-Prince
HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 21 (acn) The
10th meeting of the Brazil-Cuba-Haiti Tripartite Agreement
was held in Port-au-Prince, where new plans to materialize
the organization of the public health
system in that country and the strengthening of primary
health care were tackled.
The training of human
resources, epidemiological control, the rehabilitation of
patients, the implementation of a mental health system, and
the vaccination campaign, from which eight million children
have benefited, were among the aspects dealt with by
specialists of the three nations.
According to the Granma newspaper’s correspondent in that
nation, topics like the inauguration of two national health
laboratories in Les Cayes and Cap- Haitien, and the
construction of three community hospitals of reference in
Bon Repos, Beudet and Carrefour, were also analyzed.
During the meeting, the Cuban party proposed the training of
500 Haitian technicians in Infirmary, as well as the
creation of family health teams and instruments used for
diagnosis by medical services.
The Brazil-Cuba-Haiti Tripartite Agreement signed in March,
2010, shows tangible results in the field of teaching, with
the training of 58 community agents and 27 professors.
In addition, Cuban voluntary workers are currently training
32 local youngsters as technicians in electro-medicine.
