National Ballet Soon on Tour around China
HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 19 (acn) The Cuban National Ballet (BNC),
under the direction of prima ballerina assoluta Alicia Alonso,
has scheduled four performances for the Chinese cities of
Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, from April 28 through May 4.
Sources of the company
announced that they will dance Swan Lake, with choreography by
Alonso upon the original by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov.
The leading roles will be played by first dancers Anette
Valdes, Sadaise Arencibia, Danni Hernandez, Osiel Gounod, Yanier
Arian Molina and Victor Estevez.
The BNC has visited China on five occasions (1960, 1964, 1965,
2004), when they have presented classic pieces such as Giselle,
Coppelia, Don Quixote, and La fille mal gardee, among others.
This time, the first of the four performances scheduled will be
inauguration of the Arts Festival of Beijing.
