Iranian
Oscar Winner Attends Havana Film Festival
HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 9 (acn) Asghar Farhadi, winner of an Oscar
Award this year, said in Havana that his interest on Cuba dates
back to his adolescence, and that this first trip to the
Caribbean island is an excellent opportunity to get to know it
better.
The producer participated on
Monday in a press conference held at the capital’s Fresa y
Chocolate Cultural Center, on the occasion of the Iranian Film
Festival scheduled to be inaugurated on Monday night at the
Chaplin movie theater, with his film Una separación.
The winner of over 65 international prizes for that film, the
artist recalled that the first thing that called his attention
was Cuban music, the figure of Ernesto Che Guevara, and the
political events that placed the Caribbean island in the
foreground worldwide.
He underlined that one of the main objectives of this visit was
to hold exchanges with students of the San Antonio de los Baños
International Cinema and Television School, who gave their
opinion on his cinematographic work, which he appreciated
enormously.
In this regard, he said that, for future trips, he has scheduled
similar exchanges in France, at movie theaters and universities.
