Cuba’s
Participation in Summit of the Americas still Uncertain,
Says Santos
HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 7 (acn)
Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos, said on Thursday in
this capital that, unfortunately, no consensus has been
reached yet with respect to Cuba’s participation in the
Summit of the Americas.
Moments before
his departure on Thursday, Santos told the press that his
country wishes to discuss this matter in Cartagena de Indias
in April, in a constructive way and with dignity.
This matter has remained unsolved for many years and we
sincerely hope this embarrassing situation doesn’t repeat
itself in the case of the next Summit to be held in Panama,
he added.
He thanked his Cuban counterpart, Raul Castro, for the
hospitality received during his work visit to the island and
expressed his appreciation for Cuba’s offer to cooperate
with the development of sports in Colombia, a field in which
it has shown important results in the continent.
The head of state was seen off at Havana’s Jose Marti
International Airport by Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez.
