The work “Fidel Castro,”
inspired by the leader of the Cuban Revolution, was handed
over by the artist on Thursday to Kenia Serrano, president
of the Cuban Institute for Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP),
at the capital’s Friendship Center.
I dedicate this painting to Fidel because he’s a man that I
profoundly admire, a man that has made a large amount of
good things for Cuba, pointed out Jardi.
The artist, the winner of many prizes in Spain, underlined
his passion for the Caribbean island, from which he has
drawn inspiration several times to carry out his work.
Painted with all my deepest
feelings, this piece brings together a few elements of a
country I love and, above all, the figure of a great man
with a huge heart, asserted the Catalan.
It’s a canvas that combines a dusk, Havana’s seaside drive,
a building, a colonial
staircase and smiling girls, and amid all of them the figure
of Fidel.
For her part, the president of the ICAP thanked Jardi for
the gesture of dedicating one of his works to the Commander
in Chief, as a way to express admiration and respect towards
the Cuban leader.
Juan Luis Jardi (Barcelona, 1961), with about 40 personal
exhibitions in Spain, obtained a Mural Painting certificate
at La Llotja School of Applied Arts and Artistic Trades.
