Self-employed Workers Happy about Courses on Accounting and
Tax Systems
HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 31 (acn)
Courses on the accounting and tax systems offered by the
National Association of Economists and Accountants of Cuba (ANEC)
have been widely welcomed by Cubans who are starting to run
their own businesses.
Havana’s Provincial ANEC
office’s president, Ruxandra Talaba told the
media the courses were initially conceived for tax
collectors, payers and
bookkeepers; however, due to the high demand, it was decided
to extend the
audience to all those involved in self-employment.
In the second half of January, 220 people enrolled in the
one-week courses
taught by specialists of the Finances and Prices ministry
and the National
Tax Administration Office.
Those who took the courses have extolled the high quality of
the classes,
and noted that they came in the perfect time and have been
very useful for
their daily work. Some have recommended that workshops be
carried out on a
regular basis for updates on legislations concerning the
sector and also
for the exchange of experience.
Talaba explained that the programs consist of 20 hours of
lessons total
tackling general aspects of self employment as an economic
management
model, accounting, the conceptual framework of Cuban
regulations, and
taxation.
During the courses, students can learn how to manage
accounting operations
and fill out the Sworn Statement on personal income.
At the same time, the programs aim at strengthening human
and civic
values, in an effort to promote proper ethical behavior.
Among the most interested in the courses are those in the
house/room and
car renting activities and private cafeteria or restaurant
owners.
