Santiago
de Cuba Rum to Launch new Line
HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 31 (acn) The spirit firm Santiago de Cuba
announced it will roll out within the next few months a new line
of its light rums, the Extra Dark Aged, to increase its
exporting assortment.

Juan Gonzalez, president of
the trading company Cuba Ron SA, in charge of
commercializing Cuban spirits, told ACN news agency the
launching will
mark the beginning of the celebrations for the 150th
anniversary of Cuban
light rums.
Gonzalez assured the Extra Dark Aged is made in the
traditional aging and
mixing way to guarantee its success worldwide.
Rum Master Tranquilino Placencia praised the uniqueness of
this new line,
which is guaranteed by the secrecy they have kept on their
own exclusive
formula since the first light rums were distilled in
Santiago de Cuba back
in 1862.
Tano, as the Rum Master is nicknamed, said they have stored
thousands of
barrels where they keep the rums for years, 25 in this case,
which allow
them to produce remarkable rums when they blend the eldest
mixtures.
He said they have several bundles of barrels made of white
oak, which
contain mixtures 80 years and older, true relics in his
trade.
Cuba Ron SA showed in 2011 some growth in its exports,
despite the
economic crisis battering Europe, the main market for its
products.
