ALBA Nations Celebrate Mutual Achievements in Ecuador
HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 25 (acn)
The embassies of Cuba, Venezuela, Bolivia, Nicaragua jointly with
the Ecuadorean Government celebrated in Quito mutual transcendental
events such as the 23rd anniversary of the Cuban Revolution.

In a very
well-attended meeting at the International Center for Higher
Communication Studies for Latin America (Ciespal), participants
marked as
well the fifth anniversary of the Citizen Revolution of Ecuador
and the
sixth year of Bolivia’s Evo Morales term.
Prensa Latina reported that Nicaraguan president Daniel Ortega’s
election
with 62 percent of the votes was also celebrated, along with the
expected
victory of Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez at the upcoming October
elections.
Under the banner “For the unity and integration of our peoples,”
the joint
celebration started with a speech by the Ecuadorean Heritage
minister
Maria Fernanda Espinosa who spoke on behalf of the host country.
The minister reaffirmed her government’s stance in line with the
Bolivarian Alliance of the Peoples of our Americas (ALBA).
Cuba Jorge Rodriguez, Cuba’s ambassador in Quito, highlighted
the Cuban
people’s 53-year-long fight for their right to build its own
future over
the U.S. economic, financial and commercial blockade without
ever giving
up on their independence and sovereignty.
Among speakers was also Venezuelan ambassador Rodolfo Sanz who
delivered
the closing words of the event.
