U.S. Republican Candidates Charge at Cuba
HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 25 (acn)
Two of the U.S. Republican candidates running for the presidential
nomination Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich are all out for winning the
votes and money of the Miami-based extreme right.
|
In a report on a
commentary by El Duende in Radio-Miami, Granma says such
situation has taken the two Republicans to the height of public
absurdity
and to make the most ridiculous statements which have turned
into serious
campaign promises.
Granma referred to a recent debate by the candidates in which
Romney said
he would celebrate Fidel Castro’s death as saying: "you thank
heavens that
Fidel Castro has returned to his maker and will be sent to
another land;"
to which Gingrich -going one step further- replied: “I don't
think Fidel
is going to meet his maker, I think he's going to ‘the place’,”
referring
to Hell.
Both of them pledged their Florida voters at the debate to do
anything in
their power to overthrow the Cuban government if they make it to
the White
House, including paying terrorists of the likes of Posada
Carriles to
plant new bombs in hotels or streets in Cuba or to lead a
military
invasion such as the failed Bay o Pigs operation in 1961.
It’s worth noting that Romney has endoresements from by
Cuban-American
Congresswoman Ileana Ross and the Mario and Lincoln Diaz-Balart
brothers;
while Gingrich is backed by the federal representative and also
Miami
Republican David Rivera.
