Ballet Nacional de Cuba Warms Up for Canada Tour
HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 24 (acn) The Ballet Nacional de Cuba, under
the direction of Alicia Alonso, will perform in six cities of
Canada from February 3 to 18 for which the company has put
together an attractive varied program showing different
choreographic trends and styles.

The Cuban ballet company will perform in the
cities of Victoria, Nanaimo,
Banff, Kelowna, Chilliwack and Vancouver, where the tour will
wrap up with
the performance of the full version of Don Quixote, according to
a press
release by the BNC.
Among the pieces selected for the shows are En las sombras de un
vals (In
the shadows of a waltz), a choreography by Alicia Alonso on
Josef Strauss
waltz; Acentos by Eduardo Blanco with music by Cuban group Luna
Negra; the
suite of Nutcracker; Dialogo a 4 by Alicia Alonso on scores by
Ignacio
Cervantes; the second act of Swan Lake and Idilio also by Blanco
with
music by Luis Enrique Bakalov.
Among lead dancers will be Sadaise Arencibia, Anette Delgado,
Dani
Hernandez, Yanela Piñera, Viengsay Valdes, Ernesto Diaz, Jessie
Dominguez,
Osiel Gounod, Jose Losada, Camilo Ramos, Amaya Rodriguez, Felix
Rodriguez
and Javier Sanchez, who will be accompanied by soloists and the
company’s
corps de ballet.
