Artists Beautify Santiago de Cuba with Murals
SANTIAGO DE CUBA, Cuba, Jan 25 (acn) Cuban and foreign artists
participating in the Tenth International Biennial of Mural
Painting (“InterNos”) painted seven murals around Santiago de
Cuba, a city readying for its 500th anniversary.
|
This latest masterpieces join the 104 such works
scattered throughout
Santiago, making of the city “an open gallery” in the eyes of
its
inhabitants and visitors. The main topics are the environment
and youngsters.
Painters from Cuba and 13 other nations from Europe, Latin
America and the
Caribbean participated in this event that started on January 5
with
exhibitions of photographers and painters, theoretical
workshops, videos
and concerts.
Fulfilling the event’s goals of bringing culture closer to
communities,
they painted large murals in three parks: Parque del Amor (Love
Park),
Carlos J. Finlay and Ferreiro. Also, they made the walls of the
Provincial
Hospital and a school more beautiful with their work.
Andres Franco, and Ecuadorean youngster in his first
participation to this
event, said it had been a very interesting proposition when
people from
different countries, generations and styles shared their ideas
to make a
unique piece.
Cuban Oandris Tejeiro, a veteran in the Internos events, praised
the
possibility of exchanging with other artists during the creative
processes
that allowed him to learn on other urban art trends and
aesthetic
concepts, as well of different perspectives.
