South American Brigade in Solidarity with Cuba Arrived in Havana

Upon their arrival, the solidarity activists —mainly from Brazil, Uruguay,
Chile and Argentina— learned about the latest smear campaign launched by
the mainstream media which tries to portray the Cuban Government as
responsible for the death of a common inmate who died last Thursday as a
result of multi organ failure caused by a generalized sepsis in spite of
the painstaking care he received.

Chilean Marisol Corvalan told ACN that Cuba is an example for its
achievements in the education and public health sectors, which show that
the people’s well-being is a top priority for the Cuban authorities.

Corvalan added that international support for the cause of the Cuban
antiterrorists who remain unjustly imprisoned in the United States
continues to increase worldwide.

“These solidarity actions will not stop until Rene Gonzalez, Fernando
Gonzalez, Ramon Labañino, Gerardo Hernandez and Antonio Guerrero return to
their homeland,” she noted.

Young Brazilian Arthur Alves, 13, said he felt very attracted by the Cuban
people and pointed out that this is his second visit to the Caribbean
nation accompanying his father in the brigade.

For 15 days, the South American Brigade in Solidarity with Cuba will carry
out a series of activities that includes agricultural work and visits to
the Isle of Youth and to central Villa Clara province.
