From this monument
dedicated to who is the living soul of the country,
representatives of youth and student organizations called
today every true
follower of Marti to attend this appointment for Cuba, to
raise together
as a love offering to the Apostle, the flame of dignity,
freedom and justice.
Carlos Rangel Irola, president of the University Student
Federation,
highlighted that the Mrach will constitute unequivocal proof
of the
support of the Cuban youth to the Revolution and,
especially, the National
Conference of the Communist Party of Cuba, which will start
the following
day in Havana.
It will also pay tribute to Fernando Gonzalez, Antonio
Guerrero, Gerardo
Hernandez, Ramon Labanino and Rene Gonzalez, five disciples
of the Master,
whose doctrines they have in their hearts, that light that
illuminates the
long night of captivity in the “bowels of the monster”, he
said.
Again the steps of the University of Havana will be the
concentration and
start point of the demonstrators and again, like a sea of
fire, the crowd
will march down San Lazaro Street, preceded and escorted by
Cuban flags
and the Young Communists League, the FEU and FEEM.
Shortly after nine o'clock Friday night the crowd will start
moving after
a speech by President of the FEU and the usual tribute to
its founder,
Julio Antonio Mella, a young and passionate Marti follower,
at the
Memorial that keeps his ashes at the bottom of University
Hill.
They will remember the first March of the Torches, 59 years
ago, on the
occasion of the centenary of the birth of José Martí, and
which showed its
strength and courage of those who would attack just six
months later the
Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Cespedes Garrisons.
Indeed, in front of the lone star banner that accompanied
Raul Castro,
then a student at the University of Havana, in this
manifestation, were
announced the dissimilar actions conceived as a tribute to
the new
generations to the Master.
These include the parades, camping, climbing to the highest
point of Cuban
geography, contests, chat rooms, clubs, parties and talks,
as well as
vigils the night of 27 January in parks and squares that are
named after
the Hero of Two Rivers.
To all this they will add walks, workshops, exhibitions,
meetings, visits
to historical sites, cultural and community projects.
