Cuban Neurological Institute Will Host Scientific Conference
HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 22 (acn)
Cuban and foreign professionals will gather at the Annual
Scientific Meeting of the Doctor José Rafael Estrada
Gonzalez Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery, who will
be held from January 23 through the 27 in Havana city.
Dr. Enrique Michel Esteban,
president of the Organizing Committee, said
that the forum will show the scientific-technical results of
this center
and discuss the implementation of projects between
institutes of the
branch of medicine that help to stimulate research and
provide better care
for patients.
Participants will discuss topics related to neurological and
neurosurgical, cerebrovascular, neuromuscular,
neurodegenerative and other
diseases, said Michel Esteban.
The participants will also discuss on movement disorders,
epilepsy,
pediatric neurology, neuroimaging, genetic and neurological
diseases,
neuropathology, computer and medical librarianship, among
other things, he
said.
This Day is celebrated to honor the 50th anniversary of the
founding of
the Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery, considered the
birthplace of
the study of this science in Cuba.
The meeting will be attended by scholars and residents of
Neurology,
Neurosurgery, Neurophysiology, Basic Sciences, Internal
Medicine, General
Medicine, Imaging, Psychiatry, Psychology, Pediatrics and
nurses dedicated
to caring for patients with neurological and neurosurgical
conditions.
Within the framework of the celebrations, on February 2-3
they will hold a
workshop of neuro-ophthalmology, at the institution and the
Cuban
Ophthalmology Institute Ramón Pando Ferrer, announced to the
ACN Doctor
Rosaralys Dr. Santiesteban.
Dr. José Rafael Estrada González (deceased) founded on
January 29, 1962
the national reference center for cerebrovascular diseases,
which are the
third leading cause of death in Cuba
