Holguin Shows Record of Tourist Arrivals in 2011
HOLGUIN, Cuba, Jan 21 (acn) The
province of Holguin, considered the third top tourist area
of Cuba, after Varadero and Havana, reached its peak in
tourist arrivals in 2011 with more than 284,000 foreign
visitors, 10% more than in the previous year.
According to ¡Ahora!,
Holguin’s local newspaper, Canada maintains its
place as the leading market for this eastern region of Cuba,
followed by
the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy and Netherlands.
The report says that in 2012, in the peak of the tourism
high season,
weekly flights to the Frank Pais International Airport add
to more than
fifty, including a new route recently inaugurated coming
from Buenos
Aires, Argentina.
The province has more than 4,800 rooms available,
distributed mostly along
the north coast in the Guardalavaca, Playa Esmeralda and
Pesquero resort
areas.
High-quality services in hotels together with beautiful
beaches are two of
the main assets of the region.
