By way
of this document, the group committed itself to increase the
level of popular awareness in Australia with respect to the case
of the Cuban antiterrorists, unfairly sentenced in the United
States, and condemned the policy of blockade of the United
States against the Caribbean island.
During a meeting with relatives of The Five held at the Cuban
Institute for Friendship with the Peoples, the delegation
learned more about these patriots, arrested for monitoring the
activities of Florida-based violent groups and warning about
their terrorist plans against Cuba.
Mirta Rodriguez, mother of Antonio Guerrero, underlined the US
society’s disinformation due to the manipulation of the press in
that nation, and insisted on the need to spread the truth about
the case.
The brigadistas expressed their willingness to expand
educational work with the Australian people, in order to break
the wall of silence that exists in that country.
Ximena Tolosa, a member of the solidarity group, pointed out
that people in Australia don’t know about the case of The Five,
since the mass media in that country, under the control of US
press magnate Rupert Murdoch, are not interested in clarifying
that injustice.
