By way of this document, the group committed itself to increase the level of popular awareness in Australia with respect to the case of the Cuban antiterrorists, unfairly sentenced in the United States, and condemned the policy of blockade of the United States against the Caribbean island.

During a meeting with relatives of The Five held at the Cuban Institute for Friendship with the Peoples, the delegation learned more about these patriots, arrested for monitoring the activities of Florida-based violent groups and warning about their terrorist plans against Cuba.

Mirta Rodriguez, mother of Antonio Guerrero, underlined the US society’s disinformation due to the manipulation of the press in that nation, and insisted on the need to spread the truth about the case.

The brigadistas expressed their willingness to expand educational work with the Australian people, in order to break the wall of silence that exists in that country.
Ximena Tolosa, a member of the solidarity group, pointed out that people in Australia don’t know about the case of The Five, since the mass media in that country, under the control of US press magnate Rupert Murdoch, are not interested in clarifying that injustice.
