Pedro Calzadilla,
Culture Minister of the People’s Power in the Bolivarian nation
said on Wednesday that the event will include some 30
activities. It will run until January 28, birthdate of the Cuban
National Hero, the Venezuelan News Agency (AVN) reported.
This celebration will
bring to mind Marti’s arrival in Caracas –on January 21, 1881-,
where he founded in July of that year the Revista Venezolana, a
magazine that marked the beginning of the modernist literary
movement in Spanish America, according to scholars.
The public in Caracas will be able to enjoy recitals, movie
screenings, exhibitions, book launchings and sales, lectures,
theater performances and concerts, added the AVN.
The Romulo Gallegos Center for Latin American Studies (CELARG)
and the Jose Marti Nuestra America Center, in the capital, will
be the event’s venues.
Organizing the initiative in addition to these two institutions
are the Cuban embassy, the Caracas city hall, the Corazon
Adentro Culture Mission, the National Film Library, the
Venezuela-Cuba Mutual Solidarity Committee, and the Association
of Cuban Residents
