Bonet will offer a concert at
the Lazaro Peña Theater on January 20, for which she will be
accompanied by the National Symphony Orchestra, conducted by
maestro Enrique Perez.
During a press conference held
at the Melia Cohiba Hotel, she explained that her
presentation in Cuba, entitled Islas del Mar, will include
pieces from her CD Bellver, which won the 2011 International
Prize of Cubadisco, Cuba’s annual record fair and contest.
The quintet of Cuban double-bass player Jorge Reyes will
also accompany Maria, who has been described as one of the
most important figures of Mediterranean song, with a
repertoire of pieces in Catalan.
She explained that the Havana concert will be repeated a
week later at the 17th Barnasants Festival, in the Catalan
cities of Vila-Seca and Sant Cugas del Valles.
