The jury, presided over by Dr. Daisy Rivero Alvisa, decided to give Hart
the award also “for being a tireless revolutionary who has dedicated his
life to defend the school where patriots are formed.”

The resolution announcing the decision reads that the prestigious
intellectual continues to give a valuable contribution to the Cuban people
and to Latin America through the teachings of Cuba’s National Hero, Jose
Marti, and the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro.

Armando Hart will receive the award during a solemn ceremony scheduled for
January 12 at the venue of the Havana-based Center of Studies on Jose
Marti’s Life and Work.
