CELAC: Foreign Ministers of Chile, Cuba and Venezuela to Meet on Monday
HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 7 (acn) The foreign ministers of Chile, Cuba and Venezuela will meet in
Santiago on Monday to make progress in the organization of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC).

According to a communique by the Chilean government released on Friday, Foreign Minister Alfredo Moreno will chair the first meeting of the troika of FM of the CELAC, along with this counterparts from Cuba, Bruno Rodriguez, and Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro.


In addition, Moreno will hold bilateral meetings with them. Later on Monday, the three FM will give a press conference to announce the results of the meeting, during which a work schedule will be devised and progress in the shaping of this new international organization will be made.


All countries of the American continent are part of the CELAC, except the United States and Canada –which are part of the Organization of American States (OAS).
The CELAC, created on December 3 in Caracas and promoted by Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, inherits the heritage of the Group of Rio and of the Summit of Latin America and the Caribbean (CALC), and its next meeting will take place this year in Chile, the country that holds the pro-tempore presidency.
