Deputy Health Minister Marcia Cobas passed on the best wishes sent to them by Fidel, who expressed his certainty that the internationalists will fulfill their mission in the neighboring country.

A total of 40 nurses, 17 physicians and tree cooks arrived from Cuba in Port-au-Prince on Friday, the National Television Newscast reported.

With this new group -pertaining to the Henry Reeve International Contingent of Physicians Specialized in Disaster and Serious Epidemic Situations -, the island honors its commitment of strengthening its presence in Haiti to fight cholera.

The Cuban voluntary workers in that country total 1,295, scattered around several areas of that nation, where over 45,000 patients have already been treated.
