Minister Marcia Cobas passed on the best wishes sent to them
by Fidel, who expressed his certainty that the
internationalists will fulfill their mission in the
neighboring country.
A total of 40 nurses, 17 physicians and tree cooks arrived
from Cuba in Port-au-Prince on Friday, the National
Television Newscast reported.
With this new group -pertaining to the Henry Reeve
International Contingent of Physicians Specialized in
Disaster and Serious Epidemic Situations -, the island
honors its commitment of strengthening its presence in Haiti
to fight cholera.
The Cuban voluntary workers in that country total 1,295,
scattered around several areas of that nation, where over
45,000 patients have already been treated.
