Guinea Bissau’s First Minister Meets with Cuban Delegation
HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 19 (AIN)
Guinea Bissau’s Prime Minister, Carlos Gomes Junior, received
Roberto Gonzalez Martín, Cuban Deputy Health Minister who led a
delegation from the island that took part in the 8th graduation of
doctors from that country trained in Cuba.

In the meeting, Gomes Junior
thanked the Cuban government for the
historical and permanent solidarity with his nation. He said to
be
grateful for the participation of combatants from Cuba in the
liberation
fights against Portuguese colonialism.
Gomes Junior noted that the first doctors in his country came
from Cuba,
and thanked the island for the ongoing cooperation in the fields
of
education and health, particularly in the training of doctors
for the
public service at the Raul Diaz Argüelles medical school, from
which 88
physicians just graduated.
The Prime Minister proudly showed the visitors a picture of him
next to
Commander in Chief Fidel Castro, hung in his office.
Later in the day the Cuban delegation met with the president of
the
Parliament of that nation who told them the legislative body had
recently
passed a statement in favor of the five Cuban anti-terrorist
fighters
unfairly imprisoned in the US.
The Cuban representatives also gathered with the 35 members of a
medical
brigade from the island working in Guinea Bissau.
