The director of this center, Alberto Granados,
said in a press conference
on Tuesday that the event will serve to celebrate the 26th
anniversary of
the foundation of the House of Africa and, among other topics,
participants will discuss music, rituals and oral traditions of
the
different cultures of Equatorial Guinea.
Granados announced that the program includes art exhibitions,
the launch
of specialized books, a festival of oral narration, and a
performance of
the members of the Anamafimba project —a group of Cuban
musicians
specialized in chants of the Abakua fraternity.
Prior to the event, the mural ‘Love, Love Me Not’ by Lorenzo
Lopez
Shening, will be inaugurated at the House of Africa. The piece
was made by
the artist in Uganda and it contains 35 materials, including
leather,
horns, more than 10,000 porcupine spines, minerals, and wood.
