GM Lazaro Bruzon: Favorite at JAVH MacGregor Chess Open Tournament
HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 6 (acn) Cuban Grand Master (GM) Lazaro Bruzon is one of the pre-tournament favorites attending the Second JAVH MacGregor Chess Open that begins on Tuesday in the Colombian city of Bogota.

With an ELO rating of 2,689 points, Bruzon is the highest ranked-player in
the competition for which more than 300 players registered.

The 10-round event will be played using the Swiss system.

Other players with an ELO rating over 2,600 attending the contest are
Dutch GM Sergei Tiviakov (2,650) and Polish GM Bartlomiej Macieja (2,616).
Other GMs competing in Bogota will be American Alejandro Ramirez (2,595),
Peruvian Emilio Cordova (2,538), and Cuban Isam Ortiz (2,553).

Cuba’s delegation is completed by GM Luis Manuel Perez (2,475);
International Masters (IM) Camilo Gomez (2,537) and Alberto Rivera
(2,389); FIDE Masters Lisandro Fernandez (2,368) and Julio Manuel Espinosa
(2,282); and Angel Luis Fernandez (2,117).

The First JAVH MacGregor Chess Open Tournament in 2010 was won by Tiviakov
while Bruzon ended in the sixth spot with eight units of ten possible.
