Cuban Magazine for The Blind Marks 16th Anniversary
HAVANA, Cuba,
Dec 6 (acn) The 59th issue of the Faro magazine, written in
Braille for the blind and visually impaired of Iberian America
and other regions, currently circulating in Cuba, is dedicated
to the 16th anniversary of its creation.
|
Among the most interesting articles in this issue
are one about schools
for the blind in Cuba, written by Marisabel Tamayo, president of
the
History Commission of the island’s National Association for the
Blind
(ANCI); another about the city of Baracoa, which was the first
village
founded by the Spanish 500 years ago, and a third one about the
cinema for
the blind; all of them written by visually impaired
collaborators.
The publication features different sections that cover different
aspects
of society with the purpose of providing those who lack the
sense of the
sight with greater access to information and culture, according
to the
director Jose Miguel Ramos.
Issued by ANCI, Faro is the only magazine of its type in Cuba;
it targets
not only Cuban readers but also audiences outside the island.
The
publication is mailed out for free to its subscribers.
