Omara Durand, who won the women’s
100 meters in the T13 category clocking
11.99 seconds, set the fourth world record by Cuban athletes in
this
regional sports meeting.
The other crowns were for weightlifter Cesar Rubio, who lifted
151
kilograms in the men’s 48-56 kilos, and for swimmer Lorenzo
Perez, who won
the men’s 100 meters freestyle event clocking 1:09.42 minutes.
After these results, the Cuban delegation has 15 titles, seven
silver and
nine bronze medals and is only behind Brazil, which leads the
event with
54 crowns, 36 silver and 42 bronze medals, followed by the
United States
(34-30-22) and Mexico (33-41-30).
